Twitter helping you grow personally

I recently started Twittering as a hmmm … ok maybe i have time for this now that I am not obsessing over some personal issues. I was irritated with Facebook and all the posing going on between and amongst people.

It began to leave me feeling bad instead of connected and i didn’t want to start removing people. In response I deactivated my account for a month to remove myself from the drama. It helped me gain perspective and was a refreshing break. Maybe your friends aren’t douche bags like mine.

Nevertheless, i wanted to rethink why i was using facebook and for what purpose. I decided that if i was to remain ‘Facebooked’ that i would only say things that were authentic, kind, and/or thought provoking. No more BS.

I came across this article by the CEO of Zappos called How Twitter Can Make you a Better (Happier) Person.

Gratitude: Twitter helps me notice and appreciate the little things in life

His article was refreshing and i got inspired again. I am always writing notes, thoughts, feelings and observations in my Blackberry anyway so the idea of Twittering wasn’t that much of a stretch. But the thought “could i really reveal my thoughts? …” and ” … are they worthy? …” were concerns.

I will report back my experience. Just now looking for people to follow. Open-minded, creative, inspiring people.

One way Twitter was used in (unusual) snowy Vancouver to make a difference in the Downtown East Side. TweetUpHeatUp
